%A Barbakadze, Ketevan %A Gogoladze, Tamar %D 2022 %T "I WAS MET BY KIVCHAK" IN FOLK AND FICTION TEXTS %K %X There are very few poems in folk poetry, which in addition to the plethora of variants (up to 40) were followed by a number of literary echoes in the fictional texts. Such poem is probably the heroic ballad "I was met by Kivchak " created by an unknown speaker in the XI-XIII centuries. The story of the poem not only "lived" for ten centuries, but also appeared with different endings in the literary text (G. Leonidze, L. Gakharia, Ts. Janelidze, G. Chokheli, M. Chitishvili), which was followed by the responses of writers (G. Shatberashvili), discussions-evaluations of literary critics, folklorists (T. Makhauri), philosophers (L. Berdzenishvili), or others. The main aim of the paper is to gather, analyze and outline the reasons or goals of different interpretations of the endings of “I was met by Kivchak”  based on the studied variants and the opinion of the researchers. A comparative-typological method is used. In conclusion, we can express the main idea that defined the rejection of the nation's traditional hospitality and another justification for the protection of our own land or the eternity of love, which was not evident in the literature or folklore available to us.   Keywords: Kivchak, Homeland, Love, Courage, Last Taep. %U http://www.sciencejournals.ge/index.php/NJ/article/view/268 %J PHILOLOGICAL RESEARCHES %0 Journal Article %P 153-161%N V %@ 2667-9612 %8 2022-12-17
