Abstract

The article discusses Uprisings in 1918-1920 in Georgia in the territory of "South Ossetia" in the school textbooks of Georgian and world history. The work is based on the content analysis of school history textbooks published after the restoration of independence of Georgia. Attention is focused on the volume of material and presented documents. The main facts about what the authors of the textbooks pay special attention when discussing the mentioned issue are highlighted. Among them are the causes of the uprisings, their nature, the role of Soviet Russia in these processes and its real intentions, as well as the retaliatory actions of the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Georgia.

School textbooks play an important role in countering falsified versions of history. In this case, it is about the falsification spread by the Russian government and the separatist regime of Tskhinvali, with which they are trying to justify the occupation of the historical territory of Georgia.
