Abstract

The issue presented in the form of an article is mainly one of the important sections of the research topic of the Charmauli feudal house of the 13th-18th centuries. It concerns individuals active in the 17th century who were important and interesting representatives of this family.  We would also like to note that in 2022 and 2023, two articles on the above-mentioned topic were published in the internationally refereed journal "History, Archaeology, Ethnology" of the LEPL Gori State Teaching University, issues N-8 and N-9; I. Official positions of the Charmauli family; II. A brief overview of the Charmauli family and the village of Lausha, granted to Grigol Charmauli by David VIII (1293-1311). For publication of these articles I would like to thank the editors. These publications, based on historical documents, describe their relationship with kings and Catholicos, as well as their connection with the Aragvi Valley based on the estates they owned and their official positions.

The current scientific research, based on historical documents, only discusses the family of Charmaulis of the 17th century, which attract attention due to their life and activities. Our goal in the research was to determine, based on sources, the hereditary, or genealogical line, as well as the issue of ownership of property and official positions based on the principle of seniority in the family, which was interesting in medieval feudal Georgia. The first representative in the 17th century was David, whose time of activity, according to historical documents, is 1602-1626, and he is mentioned in only two documents. Then there is his son Paata, whom we have assigned first in the numbering, because there is also the second Paata in the second half of this century. Paata I has two sons, Iase and Iovane. Iase has Paata II and Onana, and Iovane's son is Zakaria. We have established their hereditary connection from the documents we have in our possession.

Key words: David Charmauli, Zakaria Charmauli,  Agaian, Aragvi Principality, Mouravi,   Merikifetukhutes.
