EXPRESSIVENESS AND EMOTIONALITY EXPRESSED IN PHYTONYMIC IDIOMS (BASED ON GEORGIAN AND FRENCH CORPUS)
Abstract
The aim of the article is to demonstrate the power and influence of emotionality and expressiveness in phytonymic idioms obtained from a Georgian and French corpus through a comparison of the two languages, and, as a result of this comparison, to identify similarities and differences in perception and influence existing between two different cultures.
Phytonyms are one of the distinctive and rather rich parts of the vocabulary, representing an interesting object of study due to its depth, although in the case of the idiom it is even more interesting because the wealth of the nation, embedded in them and passed and pass down from generation to generation, is very valuable for research both linguistically and culturally, especially as people use idioms more and more frequently in their everyday life. You know well enough, that their translation and understanding is not so easy if we do not know the target nation’s culture, and that’s why, this type of research therefore helps us, by comparing the Non-Material Culture heritage of unrelated languages, to show the Expressiveness and Emotionality of the perception and understanding of the World by representatives of two different nations.
Phytonymic idioms carry a great expressive and emotional charge. Emotionally colored Phraseophytonyms and their Expressiveness are interesting to be investigated from different angles. The goal of our research is to characterize Georgian and French Phytonymic idioms in terms of expressive and emotional features, and to group them from a lexical and semantic perspective through comparative analysis.
