Abstract

At the beginning of the 14th century, the estates of the nobles of Ksani (Tskradzmiskhevi) expanded even more. The loyalty of Shalva Kvenipneveli of Ksani to King Vakhtang III (1299-1309 AD) played a big role in this. As is known, Vakhtang had a conflict with his brother Davit VIII (1273-1311). The nobles of Kartli were divided into two camps. A part of them supported Prince Vakhtang. Among the supporters of Vakhtang was Shalva Kvenipneveli. Because of this, David VIII marched to Ksani Saeristavo (dukedom) and raided the estate of the opposing Ksani Eristavi in Tskhavati. Vakhushti Batonishvili writes about this: "And King Davit came down to the house of Tschaot and destroyed the estate of Qvenipneveli to the Stveli and Tskhaoti ruthlessly, which made Shalva Kvenipneveli of Kartli to beg for a pardon, in order to escape with the king." After the coronation of Vakhtang III, the condition of Shalva Kvenipneveli significantly improved. For his faithful service, the king gave him a number of estates, including Atsriskhevi and Bekhushe in the northeastern part of Patara Liakhvi gorge. The monument of the genealogical chronicle of the nobles of Ksani gives us an interesting information about it: "...then every loyal of the Prsians passed, then the king gave Truso, Ghudo, Gagsdzeni, Mleta, Aragveti, Khado, Kanchaeti, the estate of the Abazasdzes, Dzignakorna, Digvami, Gavaza, Atsriskhevi to Shalva. , Bekhushe and as he saw Shalva above of all the nobles." The location of the estates transferred by Vakhtang III to Shalva Kvenipneveli has been clarified by J. Gvasalia. As the researcher points out, Atsriskhevi and Bekhushe (Bekhcho) are located on the right bank of Patara Liakhvi. From here, Bekhushe was near Patara Liakhvi, at the confluence of Chabarukhi gorge, and Atsrisenkhevi was south of Bekhushe. "Savakhtango" mentioned in the Georgian historical sources, in our opinion, also included the villages in the upper part of the Patara Liakhvi valley. The princely estate belonged to Vakhtang III, who gave Atsriskhevi and Bekhushe included in Savakhtango to the faithful Ksani Eristavi along with other estates. This is where the influence of Ksani eristavs begins to spread in the Patara Liakhvi valley.
